The purpose of group services is to provide a range of group programs to both children and parents in order to provide them with the skills to build necessary tools to cope with everyday situations. Groups are offered throughout Renfrew County and target all age groups.

Groups for Parents
Surviving Your Adolescent
The Surviving Your Adolescent group helps parents understand and deal with the behaviour of adolescents.
Early Years Parenting
The Early Years Parenting group is for parents of children 0-6 years of age. It provides parents with an understanding of young children and teaches strategies to manage behaviour.
Children First Program
The Children’s First program provides separating/divorce parents the opportunity to learn about and discuss the effects that divorce and changing family situations have on children. Parents are introduced to methods of minimizing the negative consequences of divorce on their children.
COPE – Parenting
The COPE parenting group is for parents of children 7-12 years of age. It teaches parents effective strategies to manage difficult behaviour.
Parent Support Group
The Parent Support group will help support parents with the strategies they have learned while participating in the surviving your adolescent group. Guest speakers will be invited to present on specific topics.
Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Group (ITTM)
ITTM is an educational group that promotes effective parenting techniques to help children who have been traumatized.
Groups for Children (6-12 yrs)
Friends for Life
The Friends for Life program assists children in developing life skills to effectively cope with difficult and/or anxiety-provoking situations. The program focuses on normalizing the emotional state of anxiety, building emotional resilience and problem-solving abilities, and promoting self-confidence.
Anger Control Training (6-12 yrs)
Anger Control Training teaches children to identify the myths about anger and to recognize their own triggers and emotions. Children will learn relaxation techniques and the power of positive self-talk.
Leadership
Leadership training teaches children appropriate ways to demonstrate leadership. The program focuses on co-operation and negotiation. Children will learn how to be supportive and accept constructive criticism.
Separation and Divorce
The Separation and Divorce group provides children with an opportunity to explore feelings and learn how to problem-solve in a non-threatening atmosphere. Children learn coping skills to help them deal with issues such as isolation, going from one house to another, loyalty, and other problems caused by separation and divorce.
Social Skills
The Social Skills group focuses on teaching children skills in leadership, problem-solving, and building friendships and relationships. Children will be introduced to strategies for conflict resolution, co-operation, and mood management.
Bullying (Tab Program)
The Tab program focuses on changing attitudes towards teasing and bullying. Children are taught to use a problem solving approach that draws on conflict resolution strategies. The program encourages children who bully to change their behaviour, and teaches children that watch about their roles as a bystander. Children will learn positive strategies to use when they witness bullying. The Tab Program promotes changing attitudes towards children with differences by emphasizing the importance of each individual’s unique being.

Friends for Life
The Friends for Life Program assists youth in developing life skills to effectively cope with difficult and/or anxiety-provoking situations. The program normalizes the emotional state of anxiety, builds emotional resilience and problem-solving abilities, and promotes self-confidence.
Mood Management
The Mood Management group teaches adolescents to effectively manage difficult emotions and challenges in their life.
Teen Girls Support Group
The Teen Support Group has an emphasis on body image, self-esteem, relationships and stress management for girls 13 years of age and older.
