The Friends and Neighbours (FAN) Club was developed in 1995 by the Phoenix Centre for Children and Families and it is now known internationally. The FAN Club is a unique, Canadian prevention program, developed in response to the increasing need for dialogue with children and the serious social problems facing them today.
The FAN Club is a unique club of hand and rod puppets that address social issues through lively and thought provoking puppet shows. The shows are designed for children 3 to 11 years of age and meet the learning expectations of the Ministry of Education, Health and Physical Education curriculum.
A typical show lasts about 30 minutes and consists of a short skit with a question-and-answer period. Our scripts are designed to tackle some difficult issues in a fun, non-threatening way. The FAN Club puppet shows encourage children to talk, learn and find solutions.
